THE GLOBAL YOUTH STATEMENT
The Power of Collective Youth Voice: Reflections on the Global Youth Statement for COP30
The Global Youth Statement (GYS) stands as a landmark representation of global unity, a document that captures the pulse, principles, and purpose of young people from every corner of the world.
As a member of the Drafting Committee for this year’s statement, serving both as a facilitator and section contributor from the perspective of Climate, Peace, and Security, I had the privilege to witness the power of collaboration in its purest form. Each sentence crafted, each discussion held, and each idea refined carried within it the urgency of our generation’s call for a fairer, safer, and more sustainable world.

THE IMPLICATIONS
The process itself was a testament to what is possible when youth come together, not divided by geography or background, but united by conviction. Guided by the UNFCCC’s YOUNGO constituency, this collective statement embodies more than advocacy; it embodies accountability. It demands that climate action also be peace action, that we address root causes, protect vulnerable communities, and prioritize human security in all climate frameworks.
Being part of this process fills me with immense pride and gratitude. To contribute directly to the global policy dialogue through a youth-driven mechanism is not just a milestone, but a reaffirmation of my lifelong commitment to making the world a better place for all, a world where peace, justice, and sustainability are interwoven threads of the same fabric.
The Global Youth Statement will soon reach the halls of COP30, but its true power lies in the people who shaped it, young changemakers, facilitators, and visionaries who dared to believe that their voices could move the world.
And they will.
