Diary Entry

God’s Surprise

One App,
Many Uses

When I was younger, my dream was to become a doctor. I imagined myself in a white coat, saving lives, and serving those in need. But when the time came, my exam marks fell short. I felt disappointed, even broken. In that moment, it seemed as if my whole future had collapsed.

Life, however, had another plan. I was placed in nursing school—not by choice, but by circumstance. At first, I thought of it as a consolation prize. I believed nursing was a smaller role compared to being a doctor. But slowly, step by step, and with every patient I cared for, my heart began to change.

Now, as I stand in my final year of nursing college, I look back with gratitude. I thank God for redirecting me, for guiding me to a path I didn’t know I needed. Nursing is not “less than” being a doctor, it is the soul of healthcare. Nurses are the hands that comfort, the voices that encourage, and the presence that stays when patients feel alone. Nursing has shaped me into someone more compassionate, resilient, and dedicated than I ever thought I could be.

If I could go back and choose again, I would still choose nursing. What once felt like failure has become my greatest blessing.

This is the message I want to share with every student who may feel the same disappointment I once felt: do not give up, do not lose hope. Life’s surprises, God’s surprises, are often far better than our own plans. Sometimes the door we desperately wanted remains closed, only because another door, one that fits us even better, is waiting to open.

If you are struggling, if your path looks different from the one you dreamed, trust that it is not the end of your story. Be patient, keep walking, and believe that what awaits you is filled with wisdom, growth, and goodness.

I once thought my fate was failure. Today, I see it as transformation. And for that, I will always be grateful.

I hope my diary entry encourages readers, especially students and young people, to see challenges as opportunities rather than failures. Disappointments are not endpoints, they are often the start of paths that lead to unexpected growth, purpose, and hope. By sharing my journey, I hope to inspire others worldwide not to give up on themselves, to trust God’s wisdom, and to believe that every step, even the unexpected ones, can bring transformation.
